If your friend was on hallucinogenics at the time then that would probably answer that one 
Failing that, owing to the way human vision works (involving several movements per second and then piecing the frames together as it were) and the fact that our peripheral vision is not great and blurs at the edges means that he could quite probably have seen his vision blurring at the edges and then as his eye made a sharp movement it would have appeared that the blur moved.

| Orbs everywhere ? |
To be honest, it looks like you got condensation in your lens in the kitchen (happens a lot... mobile phones get water damaged by being in kitchens) and outside its probably windy and probably kicking up a lot of dirt and dust from the ground which would explain the orbs.
Fascinating phenomena im sure, but considering that old digital cameras used to have troubleshooting guides on what to do if you were getting "orbs" in your shot, I'm not buying it yet  |
